University holds orientation session
The University of Sharjah held an orientation session for new female students who have enrolled for the new academic year.
Dr Issam Zabalawi, chancellor, explained to the new students the university's academic system focuses on four primary elements.
"First is triggering student's creativity in various fields according to the requirements of contemporary life; next is using the university as a stepping-stone to transform the educational journey towards future challenges and responsibilities; the third is focusing on the student's self-reliance and maximising the use of mental, physical and psychological potential to maximise gaining knowledge; and last but not the least is urging them to effectively participate in cultural, social, sports, humanitarian, and other extra-curricular activities."
Dr Zabalawi concluded the session by explaining to the students the complete infrastructure of the university and how it will practically help them attain those four major elements.
The infrastructure, he pointed out, includes lecture rooms, laboratories, computers, university campus, sports halls and libraries.
Aisha Al Nakhi, dean of student affairs, mentioned a set of outlines through which students can ensure distinctive academic success: making the right choice on what the student should study, self-dependence, time management and hard work.
Mahmoud Abdullah, director of Admissions and Registrations, stressed the importance of the administration wing at the university, and asserted it will continuously assist students by providing advice on all academic affairs.
