A leading private university in Bahrain yesterday announced a unique scholarship programme and financial aid for students.
The programmes, offered by the Gulf University College, aim to provide qualified students from public and private schools an opportunity to obtain full or partial scholarships to enable them to study at the university, college president Dr. Mona Al Zayani said in a press conference.
"The establishment of GUC Scholarship programme is part of the university's commitment to provide high quality educational choices to the largest number of students to allow them the opportunity to have degrees from the University of London as well as a degree from the college without having to leave the Gulf," she said.
Students from public and private schools who accumulate an average of 95 per cent and above in their high school certificate are eligible for full or partial scholarships.
Students with an average of 98 per cent or above can apply for full scholarship while those with an average of 95 per cent to 97.5 per cent are eligible for partial scholarship. The scholarships in-clude only the tuition fees.
Dr Mona said the college has signed an agreement with the Khaleej Finance and Investment Company and the Bahrain Development Bank to provide soft loans to students studying at the university with easy terms to settle their loans.
"We are constantly looking for different ways to assist our students and help them realise their goals," she said.
