Sheikh Hamdan and UK's King Charles share a birthday

November 14 certainly calls for a celebration of royal proportions

What do Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and King Charles III of the UK have in common except royal lineages?

Well, they share a birthday – Nov 14 – albeit decades apart. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace in 1948 while Sheikh Hamdan was born in the UAE on 1982.

This year, as Charles turns 77, Buckingham Palace released a new photograph of the royal at Sandringham estate in Norfolk. The Palace captioned the image: “77 today! Thank you for the kind words and well wishes on His Majesty's Birthday."

Meanwhile, Sheikh Hamdan, who’s also known fondly as Fazza, is being celebrated across the Emirates with congratulatory messages across social media. Gulf News also looked at five reasons why he’s won over so many hearts – and it’s not just because of his kindness.

The other passion both royals share is a love for horse racing. While Charles owns a number of horses that compete in high-profile races including the well-known Royal Ascot, Sheikh Hamdan not only owns horses but has also competed in and won a number of international trophies.
