UK expat bags Dh100K in UAE Lottery after spotting JLT Dubai poster: ‘Why not?’

A British expat has bagged Dh100,000 in the UAE Lottery’s Lucky Chance draw.

Anthony David Cairns, a resident for the past five years, said he decided to participate after spotting promotional posters in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT).

“I saw the posters in JLT, Dubai, and thought, why not give it a shot? It worked out all right,” Cairns said.

The win was confirmed through a phone call from the organisers – news that initially seemed too good to be true.

“I got a phone call from one of your colleagues and I was with my wife at the time. She told me maybe it’s not real. So, I checked the app and yes, it was real,” he recalled.

Although thrilled with his Dh100,000 prize, Cairns said he has his eyes set on the ultimate jackpot.

“I have won Dh100,000, and I want Dh100 million next,” he added with a laugh.
