UAE to form labour market data system
Dubai: The UAE will take the responsibility for establishing a Labour Market Information System (LIMS) for Gulf Cooperation Council states, said Ahmad Kajour, Assistant Undersecretary for Planning at the Ministry of Labour.
The project, which was proposed by the Ministry of Labour and Tanmia, the National Human Resources Development and Employment Authority, is intended to collect information from the labour market that "will help policy decisions pertaining to employment" by decision makers and researchers in the region, according to the Ministry of Labour.
Kajour chaired a meeting attended by labour officials from the GCC and Yemen to devise a framework for the electronic information system regarding the composition and trends in labour supply and demand in the region.
"The target is to establish the base for this system by the end of this year and we are hoping to come to an agreement by the end of this meeting," said Kajour.
