The UAE under-20 national football team meet Palestine in the last match of the Asian Youth Qualifier Group II at the Maktoum bin Rashid Stadium, in the Al Shabab Club today.
The match will kick off at 7:30pm. The UAE team enter today's match with numerous chances to top the group and qualify for the finals, which will be held in Qatar, in October.
UAE top the group with three points and a better goal difference than Iraq, who also has three points after beating Palestine 3-1.
Iraq lost every hope of reaching the finals, while Palestine have to beat UAE 3-0 in today's match, which is a very tall order especially after the UAE team showed excellent performance last week which enabled them to beat Iraq 3-0.
UAE's French coach Francois Godar said that the match was not easy and his players must forget the 3-0 win against Iraq last Thursday, and spare no effort in today's match to win the three points to qualify for the finals.
Meanwhile, the UAE youth team under-17 returned from their 21-day training camp, held in Hungary under the French coach George Corak. The youth team played four matches during their preparations in Hungary.
They lost to Haladas 2-3, and won against Chinok and Jibior respectively, with the same result 4-0, and drew with Oygapist without any goal in the fourth match.
The youth team, who are preparing for the Asian Youth Under 17 Championship, to be held in the UAE from September 6-22, will start an internal training camp in Abu Dhabi on Friday before they leave to take part in the Friendly Youth Tournament in Tehran.
