Embassy in Abu Dhabi also launches new channel to issue verified announcements, alerts
Abu Dhabi: The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has announced that it will conduct an Open House, a platform to address the grievances of the Indian expat community members, on Friday, May 2.
The mission said that it is “an opportunity for the community members to discuss issues related to labour, consular, educational, and welfare matters with the Embassy officials.”
The session will be held from 2pm to 4pm at the Embassy.
“During the Open House session, the community can meet the Embassy officials regarding any queries/advice on labour issues, consular matters, educational matters, welfare issues, etc.,” the mission stated.
However, it clarified that no consular services related to renewal of passports, issuance of any documents, attestation, etc., will be provided during the Open House.
Last month, the Embassy held a special Open House for IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) aspirants in collaboration with IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi. The session saw participation of around 250 students and parents, who had the opportunity to clear their doubts regarding various aspects of the admission process.
The mission had recently conducted Open House and Consular Outreach Sessions in Madinat Zayed, Al Dhafra Region, on April 20, and in Al Ruwais (Al Dhannah), on April 27.
While the community members’ concerns were addressed at the Open House, the community outreach sessions took consular services such as passport, visa, and attestation assistance directly to the communities, benefiting Indian nationals residing in both regions away from the Capital. Walk-in applications were accepted from individuals who arrived with fully completed forms and required photographs before 1 p.m., making it convenient for many to access essential services without the need to travel to Abu Dhabi.
Like the Embassy, the Indian Consulate in Dubai also periodically conducts Open House sessions to address the grievances of Indian expats living under its jurisdiction in Dubai and Northern Emirates. In an attempt to widen the reach of its grievance redressal forum, the Consulate had earlier extended the ‘Weekend Open House’ from its premises to different venues in Northern Emirates.
As a new initiative to enhance communication and outreach, the Embassy has also launched its official presence on WhatsApp.
Indian expats in the UAE can now receive verified announcements, essential alerts, and important official updates directly on their mobile devices, the mission said.
This is possible by following the Embassy’s WhatsApp channel.
