Abu Dhabi: General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the

UAE Armed Forces, has congratulated Malala Yousafzai for winning the Nobel Peace Prize 2014 along with Indian child activist Kailash Satyarthi.

During a telephone conversation with Malala, Shaikh Mohammad expressed his pleasure at her winning the Nobel prize, the official news agency WAM reported.

He pointed out that the prize is a tribute to her courage and perseverance in standing up against ignorance and obscurantism and her insistence on the path of tolerance, love and peace.

He also said: “Your determination in seeking to address the advocates of ignorance and extremism is an exemplary model which is inspiring for peace lovers aspiring towards a better future for mankind."
 
He also stated that her strong will to ensure that women have access to education instilled confidence and determination in many others.

His hope was that the prize would contribute to increased global awareness for the importance of women's education, and give women everywhere the best opportunities for development and growth.

Malala is the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize.

In May 2013, Shaikh Mohammad  welcomed Malala to Abu Dhabi and praised her determination to overcome difficulties, and encouraged her to continue her noble mission, adding that it was a duty of all people to stand by Malala, as she spreads the message of love and peace.
