Residents celebrate across the UAE, watch fireworks to ring in New Year 2025
Dubai residents Nervin and Elissa celebrated the occasion at Dubai Parks and Resorts with their children Evanca, Nola, and Najeelah. “This was our first time celebrating at a theme park. It was an amazing experience, with fun activities and rocking music. We’re looking forward to 2025 with great hope,” they shared.
New parents Rahul Rutanen-Whaley and Aya Ahmed Sakoury kept their New Year celebrations indoors with a gathering of family and friends, along with their bundle of joy, Taj, at their home in Abu Dhabi.
“As we welcome 2025, we hope for peace, prosperity, safety, and good health for everyone around the world. We spent time with family and friends at home, with our little bundle of joy, Taj. It’s a year of new adventures, cherished memories, and gratitude for the blessings in our lives,” the couple said.
For tourists like Jishma Renjith, her visit also served as a time to reunite with her college classmate, Induja Binu, on New Year’s Eve.
“I came to Dubai to celebrate New Year’s Eve. It was unplanned, but I found out my close friend was living in Sharjah. We met after 8-9 years. We had such a great time catching up and rekindling old memories. 2025 is starting on a positive note,” said Jishma, a content creator from India, who attended the Liwa International Festival, Hatta Festival, a few concerts among others during this visit.
Siblings Juliana Esperas, 17, and Christopher Esperas, 15, have flown in from the Philippines to watch their first fireworks at the Burj.
“We visited here nine years ago, but we didn’t watch the fireworks. This is a beautiful place,” they said.
The siblings were also visiting their mother, Myla, after such a long time.
“I didn’t know these children would be here. It was a surprise. I usually go to the Sheikh Zayed Festival, but I brought them here to watch the Burj fireworks. This has been a thrilling experience,” said Myla, who lives in Abu Dhabi.
“This is the key moment of the year. It’s a special feeling to watch the fireworks light up the sky at the Burj,” Ardy, an Abu Dhabi resident, said.
“There’s something truly magical about being here. We’ve been celebrating New Year’s Eve at the Burj for many years, and every time, it feels like more than just a building, it’s an emotion. We eagerly look forward to the bliss of 2025.” Gerard Ruth, a longtime resident, said.
Meanwhile, RTA, Dubai, announced road closures at Al Asayel Street, and recommended taking alternative routes: Al Wasl Road and Al Khail Road.
Metro trains were packed, and even as people jostled for space inside the train, the atmosphere was full of smiles. Eyes gleamed with anticipation, each person eagerly awaiting the grand spectacle that would light up the sky above the majestic Burj Khalifa, marking the arrival of the New Year. People of all ages, young and old, families and friends, and tourists gathered to witness the celebration of light, sound, and positive vibes.
