Students across the GEMS Education network are celebrating another landmark year, with outstanding A-level and BTEC results, marking another high point in the group’s 66-year history.

A record of 1,999 students sat 5,379 A-level exams across 22 GEMS schools in the UAE and Qatar – the highest number to date. The results reflect strong academic performance, with 32 per cent of grades at A*-A and 58 per cent at A*-B, marking significant year-on-year improvements. The proportion of A* grades rose to 11 per cent, up two percentage points from 2024.

“Our students’ A-level success is in many ways just the beginning,” said Lisa Crausby OBE, Group Chief Education Officer at GEMS Education. “What excites us is where they’ll go next. Whether pursuing top universities, technical pathways, or alternative routes, they do so equipped not only with excellent results but also with values, resilience, and ambition.”

‘New benchmark’

Notable school-level achievements include GEMS Wellington Academy – Silicon Oasis, which saw a 15-percentage point rise in A* grades and an 18-point increase in A*-A grades. Sarah O’Regan, Principal/CEO, said: “Alongside our equally impressive BTEC outcomes, the Class of 2025 has truly set a new benchmark.”

At GEMS Founders School – Al Mizhar, A* grades rose by 10 points, A*-A by 20 points, and A*-B by 27 points over 2024.
Principal Akram Tarik said: “These results are the highest in our school’s history and reflect hundreds of hours of dedication, meticulous preparation, and the unwavering support of our families, staff, and, most importantly, our students.”

Sharjah schools see grade growth

At GEMS Cambridge International Private School – Sharjah, students achieved a nine-point growth in A* grades, while GEMS Wesgreen International School – Sharjah, reported A*-A grades rising by 16 points.

BTEC Level 3 courses continue to gain popularity, with 412 students participating, double last year’s cohort. Nearly a third (32 per cent) achieved the highest grade of Distinction Star, and nearly two-thirds (62 per cent) earned a Distinction Star or Distinction.
