Students on the way to classes when their car crashed into a lamp pole in Ras Al Khaimah
Ras Al Khaimah: Two Emirati students were seriously injured and reportedly in critical condition in hospital following a road incident on Friday morning while they were travelling to weekend classes at a school in Wadi Shaam in Ras Al Khaimah, an official at Ras Al Khaimah police told Gulf News.
Major Talal Saleh Al Shal, director of Al Rams police station, said the accident took place when the victim’s vehicle was attempting to pass a car in his lane. When another vehicle approached in the oncoming lane, the driver swerved to avoid the collision.
The victim’s car veered off the road and hit the lamp pole, said Al Shal.
Both teenagers involved in the incident are aged 17, police said.
The two Emirati teenagers sustained serious injuries and they were transferred to the hospital.
Major Al Shal called on all motorists and road users to abide by traffic regulations and rules.
He also urged drivers to stay within proper lanes and that before overtaking vehicles, drivers should ensure it is free of vehicles.
