Dubai: Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai’s Crown Prince, has reached two million followers on Twitter, making him one of most followed leaders in the UAE.
Shaikh Hamdan joined Twitter in March 2010. Using the Twitter handle @HamdanMohammed, the Crown Prince regularly tweets in Arabic and English.
The 29-year-old’s Twitter posts often show him meeting officials and residents, and talking about the emirate’s achievements.
His father, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, leads the way with 6.84 million followers on his official account, @HHShkMohd.
Shaikh Hamdan’s large number of followers shows how the site “connects visionary leaders”, a Twitter spokeswoman said.
On Instagram, a rival social media network, Shaikh Hamdan has 4.1 million followers.
