Dubai: Tributes poured in from across the country for 26-year-old Saif Nasser Mubarak Alameri, a student residing in Cleveland, Ohio, who was killed by a gunshot wound to the head.
Residents took to social media to express their sorrow over the tragic incident that took place Sunday in the US, and within 12 hours of the news breaking, the Arabic topic of Saif_Nasser_In_God’s_Hands was trending on Twitter.

On its website, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) posted a statement by Mohammed Mer Al Raisi, Under Secretary at the Ministry, who said: “In co-ordination with the UAE Embassy in Washington, DC, the Ministry is following up the investigation into the painful incident that led to the death of an Emirati student in Ohio.”
Al Raisi also said: "In light of this follow-up, and after details of the painful incident are clarified by the authorities, the Ministry will issue a more comprehensive statement at a later time.”
Meanwhile, on its official account, the MoFAIC tweeted on Tuesday night: “UAE following up investigation into death of Emirati citizen in Ohio.”

In a statement, the Summit County medical examiner said: "The autopsy has been completed and the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. The manner of death is homicide.”
