Amount depends on severity of violation, as outlined in Executive Council decision

Sharjah: Fees for releasing impounded vehicles in Sharjah can now reach up to Dh30,000, depending on the violation.
It follows Sharjah Executive Council’s Decision No. 1 of 2025. Sharjah Police confirmed the fees to Gulf News on Wednesday.
The Decision seeks to return vehicles that were impounded for serious offences, which pose a risk to the safety of people and property due to reckless driving, once the legal impoundment period has expired.
Colonel Mohammad Alay Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department of Sharjah Police, announced that the decision took effect on January 7 and will not apply to vehicles impounded prior to that date.
The UAE Federal Traffic Law and its violations remain unchanged. However, a provision for the release of impounded vehicles has been introduced. This decision was driven by statistics indicating an increase in such violations last year, adversely affecting the safety of road users and drivers.
