Police launch one-month-long awareness campaign

Umm Al Quwain: Police have launched a one-month-long campaign to deter young drivers from dangerous driving behaviours.

Lieutenant Colonel Saeed Bin Aran, director of the Traffic and Patrol Directorate of Umm Al Quwain Police, said the aim of the campaign is to reduce death and casualties.

Awareness lectures will be given in government entities, companies, petrol stations, colleges and institutes.

Offences include lack of attention, not leaving enough distance between vehicles, exceeding the speed limit, entering a lane without making sure that it is free of vehicles, using the phone while driving, and driver fatigue.

According to the Federal Traffic Law, the fine for sudden deviation is Dh200 and four black points.
