Move part of new safety drive to warn against risks of not wearing proper gear

Ras Al Khaimah: New motorcycle riders who passed their licence test are being distributed helmets by Ras Al Khaimah Police as part of their ‘Safety Starts with a Step’ campaign.
The Traffic and Patrols Department of Ras Al Khaimah Police, through the Traffic Awareness and Media Branch, started the initiative.
Brigadier Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director-General of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said this campaign is part of the leadership’s effort to raise awareness among motorcycle riders about the critical importance of wearing helmets for their safety.
The campaign team is on-site daily, distributing helmets to individuals who pass the city’s motorcycle riding tests and encouraging helmet use while riding or as a passenger.
Targeting motorcycle riders and passengers in this campaign highlights the dangers of riding without a helmet, which increases the likelihood and severity of injuries.
Brigadier Al Naqbi urged motorcycle riders and passengers to wear helmets consistently for their safety and to avoid penalties for non-compliance.
