Sharjah: The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced the opening of two new roads leading to government housing in the Tahil and Washah areas of Sharjah.

The roads project, which cost a total of Dh11.6 million, aims to increase the emirate’s infrastructure, ease traffic, and ensure the safety of residents and visitors.

Sulaiman Al Hajiri, Director of the road projects at the RTA, pointed out that the new two-lane road, that is 7.1km long, will link the Tahil area with Al Rafiya and Al Zubair roads, which are connected to the Bypass Road through Al Zubair tunnel.

The two roads are also connected to the Sharjah-Al Dhaid road through intersection number 10. Al Hajri said that the new road leading to the Tahil area cost Dh9 million.

The second two-lane road, which is 1.9km long, will connect the government housing located in Washah area to Al Dhaid-Al Madam Road through the Washah tunnel. Works on the second road cost Dh2.6 million.

Al Hajiri said that the roads project is in line with the directives of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

The new roads, which are fully equipped with all the necessary facilities, aim to facilitate transportation to and from the government housing.
