Abu Dhabi: The municipality of Abu Dhabi City on Friday announced the implementation of new traffic detours to facilitate construction on Al Salam Street and the Eastern Ring Road and to allow for the partial opening of the new tunnel at the intersection of Al Salam Street with Street No. 31.

The announcement is in line with the municipality's ongoing efforts to gradually open various roads in keeping with the pace of progress on the project.

Close coordination

The municipality will continue to work in tandem with the Traffic Department of the Abu Dhabi Police to ensure that the transition to the new infrastructure is as smooth as possible.

Al Salam Street project is a result of the cooperation between the municipality of Abu Dhabi City, the Urban Planning Council, the Department of Transport and the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police. The project is part of an overall initiative of the municipality to contribute to the development of the city and to establish its position as a truly modern metropolis on par with the best in the world.

Strategic objective

The infrastructure mega-project is part of the municipality's strategic objective to meet the requirements of a developing city and to respond to the needs of its growing population.

The civic body's efforts are also aimed at putting in place advanced infrastructure and transportation facilities to achieve optimal efficiency with the roads network in Abu Dhabi.
