Teen dies after celebratory ride ends in tragedy

Ras Al Khaimah: A Syrian teenage driver died and his Palestinian friend sustained serious injuries when he lost control of his vehicle and rammed into the wall of a house in Dfan area on Tuesday.

Police said the teenager, H.M.N., did not had a driver's licence and was driving at a high speed.

Police said the teenager had sneaked out his mother's car without her knowledge and went on a drive when the accident happened. The teenager's parents are in a state of shock.

Friends of the teenager said he wanted to celebrate a surprise better-than-expected showing at the examination. H.M.N. had expected to fail in the academic year, but when the results were announced he managed to pass in a few subjects and was eligible for a repeat sitting of the failed subjects before the start of the new academic year, friends said.

To celebrate this, H.M.N. took his mother's car and drove around with his friend, M.A.A., 18.

In another accident, Indian driver, A.S., 27, died when his vehicle collided with another heavy vehicle in Khor Khowair industrial area.
