Dubai: Morning commuters faced heavy delays and major traffic snarls across Dubai on Sunday due to a number of traffic accidents.

An accident was first reported at around 8am on Al Khail Road after Al Quoz Pond Park, causing a major traffic jam.

Slow moving traffic also affected drivers on Shaikh Zayed Road, which started opposite Noor Bank metro station until Mall of the Emirates.

Motorists also had to watch out for traffic congestion in and around Jumeirah Village Circle, as three traffic accidents happened on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and on Hessa Street in the direction towards Al Barsha.

A second accident on Hessa Street, after the American School of Dubai, further worsened Sunday traffic.

In Abu Dhabi, a broken down car on Shaikh Zayed Street affected motorists who were heading towards Saada Bridge.

Heavy traffic was reported on the Dubai-Al Ain Road towards Nad Al Sheba, Beirut Street, Tripoli Street, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road from Sharjah’s National Paints intersection to Mirdif City Centre, and Al Ittihad Road.

All the major roads from Sharjah into Dubai were also filled with major traffic congestion, as motorists tried to make their way into work.
