Students aged 17 and a half can apply for driving licence

Sharjah Police team will visit schools soon to help open driving licence file

Sharjah: High school students can now apply for a driving licence at the age of 17 and a half, Sharjah Police have announced.

A team from the Sharjah Vehicles and Driving Licensing Department at Sharjah Police will visit schools to give students who have completed 17 and a half years of age a chance to open a driving licence file.

The move was announced today by the department in an effort to improve services rendered to the public in line with Sharjah Government’s approach to ensure the happiness of customers and activate cooperation with its partners.

The initiative will help save students’ time and effort so as not to skip their classes on the pretext of going to the licensing department to apply for a driving licence.

It will also help reduce the pressure of customers on the department during summer holidays and boost the government approach to minimise the number of customers visiting government departments by 80 per cent by 2018.
