Sharjah: In a swift response to a viral video circulating on social media, Sharjah Police have arrested a 20-year-old Arab motorcyclist caught performing reckless stunts on a public road.

The video, which quickly gained widespread attention, showed the rider engaging in dangerous driving behaviour that put both his life and the safety of others at significant risk.

The Traffic and Patrols Department of Sharjah Police immediately identified the biker and took action to apprehend him. He faces multiple charges, including driving in a reckless manner, operating a motorcycle without a valid license plate, running a red light, and making illegal modifications to his bike’s engine and chassis.

Reckless behaviour

Colonel Mohammed Alay Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Sharjah Police, said that such reckless behaviour directly violates traffic safety laws. “The biker’s dangerous actions led to several serious traffic violations, and he will be held accountable under the law. These stunts endanger not only the individual but also the lives of other road users,” stated Col Al Naqbi.

Sharjah Police reiterated their commitment to road safety, stating that they will continue to run public awareness campaigns and enhance field surveillance.

Traffic law

Police stressed the importance of promoting compliance with traffic laws to reduce accidents and safeguard public well-being. The public is encouraged to report any dangerous driving by calling Sharjah Police at the dedicated number, 901.

“The support of the community is essential in maintaining road safety. By working together, we can create a safer environment for all and improve the quality of life in Sharjah,” added Col Al Naqbi.
