Plane with medical crew to transport seven Emiratis victims of another road accident
Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan ordered a plane with a medical crew to transport seven Emiratis injured in a car accident for further medical care in the UAE.
The move comes after another crash occurred on Saturday between two vehicles in Oman resulting in seven injuries.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the crash occurred in Maqshan district and left seven Emiratis injured, four of whom sustained severe to moderate injuries. They were all rushed to the Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah.
Only last week, tragedy struck in Oman where an Emirati family of seven, a father and his six children, were killed when their car collided with two other vehicles near Mughsaild, Salalah in south Oman.
The Ministry of Interior called on UAE residents, who intend to travel by road to the GCC, to be careful and attentive on the roads in order to prevent accidents.
Brigadier Ghaith Hassan Al Zaabi, director general of the Traffic Coordination Department at the Ministry of Interior, advised motorists to be aware of traffic codes and regulations of other countries, and the nature of roads, before travelling.
“We are in regular contact with the Omani authorities to determine the causes of the accidents and possible means to prevent them,” he said.
Earlier this year, Major Mohammed Al Shehhi, Head of the Western Region Traffic, called on drivers to “ensure mechanical shape of their cars and inspect tyres before travelling,”
He also called on drivers to use seatbelts, comply with speed restrictions, take sufficient rest when feeling tired, clean windshields for visibility and to repair any damage as soon as possible.
