Dubai: Road congestions and accidents caused delays to residents around the UAE on Sunday morning.
In Abu Dhabi, motorists were stuck in traffic as early as 7:38 am when an accident occurred on E20/ International Airport Road, just after Sweihan bridge.
According to the Abu Dhabi traffic authorities, one of the lanes was blocked.
At 7:55 am, a vehicle broke down on Hazza Bin Zayed St towards the direction of Al Bateen, causing a gridlock in the middle lane.

Heavy congestions were also reported in many parts of Dubai, particularly on the first interchange near the Toyota building, causing delays to commuters moving towards the direction of Bur Dubai, as of 9:55am.

Among the worst hit were commuters on Al Ittihad St, with tailbacks spanning nearly two kilometres, from the area near Al Nahda to Al Qusais.

Shaikh Zayed Road-bound motorists on the Financial Centre St near Dubai Mall were likewise stuck in heavy traffic.
Serious delays were also encountered by drivers on Umm Amar Road, Al Khaleej Al Tejari 1 St and other areas around Business Bay, as well as by those driving near Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Centre and the Trade Centre Roundabout.
Al Khail road commuters moving towards the direction of Dubai Design District and Business Bay also experienced some delays.
