RTA unveils air-conditioned marine transport stations in Dubai Marina

Dubai: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed the first phase of its upgraded air-conditioned Marine Transport stations in Dubai Marina, introducing enhanced comfort, smarter services.

The marine stations have been upgraded with heritage-inspired design at five key locatons including: Marina Promenade, Marina Terrace, Marina Walk, Marina Mall, and Marina Mall 1.

The upgraded waiting areas are now fully air-conditioned and outfitted with modern amenities, including free Wi-Fi, real-time schedule display screens, and audio announcement systems. With architectural elements inspired by traditional wooden abras, the project reflects Dubai’s rich maritime legacy while delivering contemporary service excellence.

Transport hubs

“This initiative is part of our strategy to improve customer satisfaction by creating more comfortable, accessible, and integrated transport hubs. The project supports RTA’s broader goals of sustainability, connectivity, and reducing reliance on private vehicles,” Khalaf Balghazooz Al Zarooni, Director of Marine Transport at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

The upgraded stations enhance connections to major commercial centers such as Marina Mall, surrounding residential neighborhoods, and nearby metro and tram stations creating a seamless multimodal transport experience for residents and visitors alike.

Customer feedback

Chosen based on customer feedback, the selected stations feature inclusive design in line with the Dubai Universal Design Code, ensuring full accessibility for People of Determination through ramps, smooth walkways, and height-adjusted amenities.

Advanced safety and security systems, including surveillance cameras and fire alarms, have also been installed to ensure a safe environment for all marine transport users.

Five additional stations

Al Zarooni noted that Phase Two will cover five additional stations, selected based on increasing demand and strategic importance, and will follow the same high standards established in Phase One.

“This project is a key component of our long-term vision to modernize marine transport infrastructure in Dubai,” he added.
