Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Sunday felicitated various Dubai Government departments, media organisations, contractors and consultants in recognition of their efforts in helping RTA successfully complete the Dubai Tram project.

Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, honoured Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Dubai Police Chief, Saeed Mohammad Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and a number of top executives and representatives of government departments, agencies and businesses.

During the ceremony, Al Tayer received a certificate from the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest screen using optical illusion technology showcasing the features of the Dubai Tram during the opening ceremony in November in a 393 square metre display area.

The certificate was handed over by Samer Khallouf, Project Manager at the Guinness Book of World Records.

Al Tayer also honoured the representatives of media organisations, including Gulf News, and businesses, commending their efforts and cooperation with the RTA throughout the construction phases of the Dubai Tram project.

Dubai Tram was inaugurated on November 11, 2014, with the public service beginning on November 12.
