One killed as 2 pedestrians run over in Dubai

Dubai: Two Pedestrians were run over, one died instantly and the other sustained critical injuries when a mini bus and saloon car knocked them down on the Emirates Road tonight.

The accident happened at 8:30 pm when the Asian pedestrians were trying to cross the road where the mini bus, driven by An Asian man, hit them both before the light vehicle driven by a Gulf citizen, knocked them down on the fourth and six lanes of the Emirates Road while heading to the Vegetable and Fruit Market.

Police arrived at the scene immediately and started investigations, according to Salah Bu Farousha, Head of the Dubai Traffic Public Prosecution

Yousuf Al Zarouni, Senior Prosecutor, conducted the onsite investigations and ordered that both drivers be questioned and taken into custody.

Bu Farousha said the drivers are in custody now for further investigations.

The Asian pedestrian was taken to a hospital in a critical condition.
