New tunnels and interchange to open

Dubai: The long-awaited tunnels and interchange on Shaikh Rashid Road at the junction of the airport will be opened tomorrow, a senior official said.

"The opening of tunnels for motorists coming from Sharjah towards Al Garhoud bridge will ease traffic congestion on Al Ittihad Road and Shaikh Rashid Road," said Maitha Obaid Bin Udai, Chief Executive Officer of the Traffic and Roads Agency at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

With the opening of the tunnels, motorists will have a free flow of traffic while travelling from Sharjah towards Al Garhoud bridge and vice versa. The interchange at the airport road is part of the Al Ittihad Roads Improvement Project.
