New initiative part of the municipality’s efforts to ease the issue of parking for residents
Sharjah: Parking spaces located on King Faisal Street in the Al Majaz 1 area will become prepaid starting February 13, announced Sharjah Municipality.
The move to create additional paid car parks in Sharjah, is a part of the municipality’s efforts to ease the issue of finding parking for residents and to prevent the misuse of parking areas.
Residents have the option of purchasing a six-month or one year parking card, or can pay through text messages per hour following the code 5566.
Atif Abdullah Al Zarouni, Director of the Public Parking Department at the municipality said the new paid parking spaces are an extension of the car-park that is located between Crystal Plaza and the intersection of Omar Abu Risha Street.
“Some car owners have misused available car parks by parking their vehicles for long periods of time without considering the needs of residents and visitors in the area,” he said.
The new paid car-park will create an organised parking system and improve the overall aesthetics of the city, making it easier to find parking.
