Dubai: Motorists commuting to work found themselves stuck in heavy traffic on Tuesday morning, with accidents affecting a number of Dubai’s busy roads.

At around 7.30am, Dubai Police said a traffic accident was reported on Al Khail Road after Dubai Mall, heading towards Abu Dhabi, leading to massive tailbacks on Business Bay Bridge and all along Al Khail Road.

Another accident was reported on Al Garhoud Bridge towards Rebat Street, which further burdened the journey for commuters as the daily traffic grind during morning rush hour was worsened even more.

Police advised motorists to take alternative routes to avoid any further delays.

Massive congestion was also witnessed on Al Ittihad Road, as the morning traffic jam was worse than usual, with vehicles at a standstill all the way from Expo Centre Sharjah to Deira City Centre.

Commuters making their way from Sharjah to Dubai also faced delays due to an accident opposite the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone on Al Dhaid Road, heading towards Emirates Road (E611).

An accident on Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Road, near the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, also affected motorists who use that stretch to reach Al Wahda Street, before making their way to Dubai.

At around 8.45am, a traffic accident on Al Wahda Street, near Ansar Mall, affected the area further and caused heavy tailbacks.
