Dubai: One person was killed and five others sustained moderate and severe injuries in road incidents in the past two days in Dubai.

A Saudi man died in a horrific accident, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree on Shaikh Rashid Road near the Dubai Police Officers club on Tuesday at around 2.30am,

Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of Dubai Traffic Police, said that the man was driving a rented Range Rover recklessly and was speeding.

“It was a horrific scene. The impact of the crash was so strong that the four doors of the vehicle flew off, and the car was in pieces and completely charred. It was almost unrecognisable. The man died inside the car,” he said.

He added that police patrols rushed to the scene as soon as the accident was phoned in and cordoned off the area.

Earlier on Tuesday, at around 11.30pm, a motorcycle rider was severely injured after a vehicle hit his motorbike.

The accident took place on Dubai Academic City Road.

On Wednesday, Col Al Mazroui said, four people were injured when a vehicle suddenly swerved on Al Mankhool Street. “The driver and his three passengers sustained moderate to medium injuries, and they were all taken to hospital,” he added.
