Dubai: The Gold Souq bus station will be temporarily closed for renovation and all the bus services will be moved to Palm Deira Metro station, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced.

The relocation will be done from July 1 and all the services, including NOL vending machines, will be moved to Palm Deira station.

Eisa Al Hashemi, Director of Planning and Business Development at the Public Transport Agency, said: “Relocating the Gold Souk bus station to Palm Deira Metro station is dictated by the need to build a new Gold Souk bus station to accommodate the rising number of public bus riders in the area, which witnesses bustling business activity throughout the week.”

All the bus routes operating from the Gold Souq station — (27), (17), (13), (10), (8), (4), (91A), (64A), (13D), (11A), (64), (53), (43), (X94), (X23), (X10), (C28), (C09), (C07), (C05) and (C04) will move to the new station.

Al Hashemi also said there will be some changes to a few routes from July 1.

Route (C19) will start from Deira City Centre station and will not reach Al Ghubaiba bus station.

The path of Route (F8) feeding the Dubai Metro stations will be extended to cover Toyota Service Centre at the Dubai Festival City, while the path of Route (53) will be diverted to Bani Yas Square and will not reach Al Ras Metro station and Sabkha Marine Transport station.

Route (E16) will also be modified and will no longer reach Gold Souq bus station, said Al Hashemi.

He reiterated RTA’s keenness to keep public transport users informed about any changes or modifications undertaken through various means.
