Dubai: One of three new traffic diversions opened on Al Saada Street on Friday, making way for the construction of flyovers and underpasses at three intersections.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) on Friday announced the initial phase of the traffic diversion at the junction of Al Saada-Mohammad Bin Rashid Boulevard streets in Downtown Dubai.

Other two phases of the diversion will be in place in June at the intersection of the Business Bay-Al Meydan streets.

These diversions will remain in place throughout the period of construction of Parallel Roads Project at the Business Bay District.

Maitha Mohammad Bin Adai, CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, said, “The RTA has charted a master plan for managing the existing traffic diversions, which maintain the existing number of lanes to ensure a smooth flow of traffic to avoid impacting the current traffic volumes, causing potential tailbacks.”

She added that following the opening of this diversion, the RTA will proceed with the construction work of two bridges and underpasses on the existing three signalised junctions.

“The three surface intersections will be converted into signalised roundabouts to address the traffic requirements, maintain traffic safety and ensure a smooth flow of traffic in all intersections,” she added.
