Dubai: The Ministry of Education has instructed public and private schools following the national curriculum across the UAE to enforce seat belt use and ban play inside school buses, as part of efforts to enhance student safety during daily commutes.

In a circular sent to school administrations and parents, the ministry emphasised that student safety is a top priority, saying that strict adherence to safety measures is essential to reduce risks and maintain an orderly transport environment.

The directive requires all students to wear seat belts throughout their journey to and from school, with school transport providers responsible for implementing the policy.

The ministry said seat belt use helps prevent injuries caused by sudden stops, sharp turns, or unforeseen incidents, aligning with global best practices in school transport safety.

Additionally, the ministry prohibited play inside school buses, warning that students moving around during transit pose a safety risk. It noted that disruptive behavior can lead to accidents by distracting drivers or causing injuries to passengers.

Parents were urged to reinforce these safety rules with their children, as part of efforts to promote responsible behavior and ensure safer school transport operations across the country.
