Fujairah: A young man died when his car swerved off the road and rammed into a hillside after a tyre burst, an official at Fujairah police told Gulf News.
The crash took place on Shaikh Khalifa Road in Fujairah on Friday morning.
Police patrols and ambulance rushed to the scene after the police operation room was alerted regarding the accident.
The victim was identified as M.A.Z, an Emirati military cadet. The young man in his twenties was apparently driving at high speed on a wet road as it was raining at the time, the official said
The vehicle involved in the accident was a complete write-off, the official said.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident despite paramedics’ efforts to revive him.
The body was transferred to a hospital and later handed over to M.A.Z’s family for burial which was held following Juma’a prayers in Al Qurayah cemetery.
Fujairah police urged all motorists to abide by traffic laws and the speed limits and to watchful for slippery roads during rainy conditions.
