Partial closure on SMBZ Road and lane closure on Emirates Road towards Sharjah
The RTA announced a partial closure on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (Exit 64 towards the Industrial Areas and Al Khan) scheduled for Sunday, June 15, from 12:30 am to 10:30 am. The closure is due to scheduled roadworks, and motorists are urged to plan their trips in advance to avoid delays.
Maintenance work on Emirates Road towards Sharjah will see three of five lanes partially closed near the Maleha Street intersection on Sunday, June 15, from 12 am to 6 pm. Drivers are advised to expect delays and seek alternative routes if possible.
The RTA confirmed that Dubai–Al Ain Road (E66) will experience closures and delays from 12am on June 13 until 12am on June 26 for bridge maintenance. The exits between Dubai–Al Ain Road and Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road (E77) in both directions will be closed, with alternative exits recommended.
Traffic diversions on Emirates Road heading towards Sharjah, between the Dubai–Al Ain interchange and Ras Al Khor–Al Awir interchange, have been in effect since June 9 and will continue until August 30, 2025. The RTA has deployed signage and traffic management systems to guide motorists safely through the detours.
Expect delays on Dubai–Al Ain Road (E66) towards Dubai at the intersection with Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road (E77).
The exit from Dubai–Al Ain Road to Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road (from Al Ain towards Jebel Ali) will be closed. Use the next exit on E66 as an alternative route.
The exit from Jebel Ali–Lehbab Road to Dubai–Al Ain Road (E66) (from Jebel Ali towards Dubai) will also be closed. Use the next exit on E77 instead.
Drivers are encouraged to follow RTA’s official social media channels and navigation apps for real-time updates on road conditions, closures, and detours. Early planning is essential to avoid congestion and travel delays.
These roadworks are part of a broader RTA initiative targeting 40 key locations across Dubai from June to September 2025. The campaign focuses on:
Upgrading 22 major roads
Improving nine school zones with safer access and crossings
Enhancing five major development areas
Upgrading local networks in communities like Al Khawaneej 2 and Nad Al Sheba
Timed to coincide with summer holidays, the project aims to boost road safety, ease traffic congestion, and support Dubai’s vision of becoming a smart, accessible, and safe city for all road users.
