Proper car seats and fastened seatbelts are essential for child safety
Dubai Police are reminding parents and drivers to strictly follow child safety rules in vehicles, especially after a recent accident where a five-year-old child fell from a moving car in Dubai.
Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police, stressed how important it is to protect children while on the road. He called on parents to always secure their children in proper car seats with seatbelts fastened and to never allow children to sit in the front seat. He also reminded drivers to make sure car doors are fully closed before driving off.
"Children should never be left alone in vehicles, especially in the back seats,"Major General Al Mazrouei warned. "Parents should carefully watch the car windows and make sure children can’t open them or lean outside. Leaving children unattended in cars is extremely dangerous, especially during hot weather, as it can quickly lead to suffocation."
These warnings come after a recent incident in Dubai, where a young child fell out of a moving car because safety measures were not followed.
According to Major General Al Mazrouei, the child was traveling with his mother when he suddenly managed to open one of the car doors. The child fell onto the road and suffered several bruises and moderate injuries. Thankfully, the car was moving at a low speed, which helped prevent more serious harm. Emergency teams quickly arrived at the scene and rushed the child to the hospital for treatment.
Major General Al Mazrouei emphasised that raising awareness about traffic safety is crucial to protecting lives. He urged all drivers and parents to take responsibility and follow safety guidelines to avoid such accidents. He also pointed out that Dubai Police continues to run awareness campaigns and community programs, working with partners to reduce accidents caused by neglect and keep everyone on the roads safe.
