Dubai Police, RTA sign tram security agreement

MoU also provides for training on emergency operations

Dubai: The Rail Agency of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed an agreement with the Department of Transport Security at Dubai Police to provide security services on the Dubai Tram.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at a ceremony held at RTA’s Head Office in the presence of executives, directors and managers from both parties.

Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of Rail Agency, signed the agreement on behalf of the RTA while Colonel Mohammad Ahmad Al Bastaki, Director of Transport Security, signed on behalf of the Dubai Police.

Al Ali said: “By signing this agreement, the two parties will seek to realise a plethora of objectives such as lobbying support and coordinating efforts to ensure the protection and safety of the Dubai Tram network including facilities and users, sharing information about the risks to which the Dubai Tram network might be exposed, in addition to enhancing and sharing joint action to improve operations, streamline procedures, and enhance customer services.”

The agreement also provides for conducting training on emergency operations, and supporting joint communication to achieve common interests of both parties.

Col Al Bastaki pledged the police’s support in providing a holistic range of advanced services on par with international standards.
