Dubai: Motorists with traffic fines registered in 2016 or earlier will get a 50 per cent discount if they pay the fines before the end of 2017, the Dubai Police reminded drivers on Saturday.
Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Traffic Department at Dubai Police, told Gulf News, that motorists should take advantage of this order issued by Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the occasion of the Year of Giving, which was declared by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"Dubai traffic fines occurring in 2016 or before, are now subject to 50 per cent discount if paid by the end of 2017. The 50 per cent reduction in fines does not cover violations committed in 2017," Brigadier Al Mazroui said.
The Dubai Police reminded motorists of the order, adding that motorists were able to avail of the discount since July 1 this year. The window will be open for them to settle their fines until the end of December.
"Dubai Police will offer various means to facilitate the payment of fine, through the traffic department and all police and car registration centers as well as kiosks in all commercial centers," Brigadier Al Mazroui added.
Fine payments can also be done online, through UAE bank sites and RTA centres. The discount will be automatically set when paying the fines.
