Al Wahda road to be double-deck
Sharjah: Al Wahda Street will be turned into an expressway to ensure smooth flow of traffic on this congested road in the emirate, Gulf News has learnt.
The highlight of the project is a 1.6 km double deck road on one of the most congested parts of Al Wahda Street, from King Faisal Interchange to Gold Centre junction.
The project called Al Wahda Street Improvement will cost Dh477 million and it will be completed in three years. Work on the project has already started.
The elevated road will have two lanes on each direction.
It will allow free flow of traffic along Al Wahda Street to bypass the congested junctions at Abu Shagara and the Gold Centre.
