Abu Dhabi municipality winds up work on internal streets, facilities

Abu Dhabi: The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City recently threw open the Internal Streets Project at Mussaffah West-East, after all works relating to the project, which started in 2007, were completed at a total cost of Dh116 million.

The project oversaw the construction of various streets in the Mussaffah Industrial Area complete with car parks for the M26, MW4, MW2, MW3, M39 and M40 sectors. On average, the internal one-way roads extend about 16,500 metres.

The project included the widening of the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Trucks Road with the addition of one lane in each direction in the sector approaching Mussaffah.

The works were completed in such a way that the intersecting gas lines were protected at all times.

Lighting works of internal roads in various sectors of Mussaffah Industrial sectors (M26, M37, M39, M46, MW2 and MW3) were also taken up as part of the project in addition to the construction of entry points for accommodations and commercial outlets at Mussaffah industrial area (for about 104 plots) and at Mohammad Bin Zayed City (for about 77 plots).

The project was completed over two phases, with the second phase covering kerbstone installation works and construction of inspection chambers for rainwater drainage systems in the M 32/1-M 32/2, M33A, M35, M37, M38, M39, M40, M42, M43, M46, MW2, MW3, MW4 and MW5 sectors.

The completion of Mussaffah Internal Streets Project is part of the strategy of the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City to strengthen the infrastructure and expand the road network in keeping with the accelerated economic and urban growth of Mussaffah area and its rising population.
