Dubai: Motorists driving on their way to work faced heavy traffic jams across Dubai on Wednesday, with a number of highways and byways choked with cars.
Heavy traffic was reported in Business Bay area, heading towards Dubai Mall, and on Al Khail Road Abu Dhabi-bound, which continued on to Shaikh Zayed Road along Latifa Bint Hamdan Street.
Traffic was further aggravated on the highways after a bus broke down on Al Aweer Road, near Academic City.

A traffic accident occurred on Umm Suqeim Street in the direction of Jumeirah, at around 9am, causing more tailbacks in the city.
The third traffic accident was reported near Jumeirah Village Circle, affecting traffic to a halt on Al Khail Road and Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road in both directions.

The morning rush hour also affected Shaikh Rashid Road, and Shaikh Zayed Road after Garhoud Bridge, while another accident affected traffic on the Dubai-Al Ain Road.
In Abu Dhabi, a traffic accident took place on Mina Road, causing heavy traffic jams in the area.

Abu Dhabi Municipality, in coordination with the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at Abu Dhabi Police, warned motorists of partial road closures on Airport Road.
Two lanes in both directions will be closed from 11am on Thursday to Saturday, October 28, to carry out maintenance works.
