Dubai: A car has caught fire on the Dubai-Al Ain Road on Monday, bringing morning traffic to a standstill.
No injuries were reported so far.
According to Dubai Police, the accident happened at around 9am in the direction towards Al Ain, Al Lisaili Bridge.
Motorists were warned to take extra caution while driving.

Although Dubai Police did not yet reveal the cause of the fire, Gulf News previously reported that the majority of car fires occur due to improper maintenance of electrical systems, illegal modifications to the vehicle, and smoking inside the car.
Fires can be prevented when motorists take a few simple safety precautions:
- Regular maintenance of the vehicles by specialised technicians
- Daily monitoring of the car’s water and temperature levels
- Tightly closing the fuel tank cap to avoid leakage
- Avoiding smoking at all times
- Turning off the engine when filling the fuel tank
Meanwhile, tailbacks were also reported on the major routes used by commuters from Sharjah into Dubai, with a number of roads affected by the sheer volume of vehicles.
Traffic was reported along the E311 Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road from Sharjah until Mirdif, in addition to Al Taawun area and Al Ittihad Road.
In Dubai, traffic moved at a snail-pace from the beginning of Rebat Street until the Nad Al Hamar Interchange.
Morning traffic also affected various areas, including Shaikh Zayed Road from Al Safa Park to the Al Manara exit, and along Al Khail Road.
In Abu Dhabi, an accident happened at Shaikh Zayed Road that affected traffic to and from Al Reem Island.
