Dubai: Now, RTA’s updated drivers and vehicles app can identify vacant parking slots at multi-level parking buildings and Dubai Mall.

The app also allows payment of parking fees without the additional charge for SMS.

Approved by the International Commission for Driver Testing (CIECA), RTA claims that the mobile app is the first in the world to enable renewal of vehicle registration and driving licences.

Abdullah Al Madani, CEO of Corporate Technology Support Services Sector, said that the update of the drivers and vehicles app was driven by RTA’s commitment to the Smart City initiative of Dubai Government.

“Updates include the offering of several services of the Smart Parking app such as payment of parking fare through credit card with no added service fees, and payment of parking fare through text messages. It also includes identifying vacant parking in RTA’s multi-level parking terminals and the Dubai Mall parking lots, identifying vacant parking for the disabled in the multi-level parking buildings, and the payment of parking fare for vehicles registered in other emirates without requiring motorists to sign up for the service,” said Al Madani.

Motorists will also get automated alerts about free parking during public holidays through the app.

He added that the app features an array of services, including query and payment of fines, renewal of driver licences, application for renewal of vehicle registration, buying distinctive number plates, application to replace lost or damaged driver’s licence instead, etc.

It also features applications to replace lost vehicle registration card.
