Dubai: Al Isra Wal Miraj holiday for public and private sectors will be on Saturday, April 14, with work resuming on Sunday, April 15, it was announced on Wednesday.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the holiday for federal bodies and private sector, respectively.

On the occasion, the authority congratulated President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, wishing them health and wellness.

It also congratulated the people of the UAE and the Arab and Islamic nations on the occasion.

Free parking in Dubai

Motorists in Dubai can enjoy free parking on Saturday on the occasion of Al Isra Wal Miraj holiday, the day Muslims believe Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) ascended to the heavens 1,400 years ago.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that parking will be free on Saturday, April 14, across all paid parking zones in the city, except for the multi-level parking facilities. Paid parking system will be reactivated on Sunday.

Saturday will also see all RTA customer happiness centres closed.

According to RTA, both Dubai Metro and Tram will operate with no change in timings and the schedule for the feeder buses will also remain unchanged.

However, bus stations will have a change in their schedule with main stations like Gold Souq station operating from 4.25am to 12.57am the next day and Al Ghubaiba station will be open from 4.26am to 12.45am.

Sub-stations such as Satwa, will be open from 4.57am to 11.05pm except for Route C01, which operates round the clock, while Al Ghusais station will be in service from 4.30am to 12.12am, and Al Quoz Industrial Area station will be in operation from 5.02am to 11.35pm. Jebel Ali station will operate from 5am and continue up to 11.22pm.

Intercity bus services and the marine transport services will run according to their regular schedule.
