Ajman: As part of the initiatives launched by His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, the Municipality and Planning Department, in collaboration with Ajman Police, has officially inaugurated the upgraded Sheikh Zayed Street in the Al Helio area.

The project covers a 2.8-kilometre stretch and was completed at a cost of Dh63 million.

This strategic infrastructure development reflects the Ajman government’s continued commitment — under the leadership of His Highness the Ruler and with the follow-up of Crown Prince Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Executive Council — to accommodate the emirate’s growing population and urban expansion.

The initiative aligns with Ajman’s goals to enhance the quality of life and support sustainable development.

A key milestone in Ajman Vision 2030

The road upgrade forms part of the wider infrastructure plan under Ajman Vision 2030, which seeks to establish a more efficient, modern, and environmentally sustainable transportation network.

Dr. Eng. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector at the Municipality, stated that the project includes expanding the road to three lanes in each direction, installing a new rainwater drainage system, adding street lighting, and organising sidewalks and parking spaces.

Two signalised intersections have also been introduced to improve road safety and ensure better traffic regulation in this high-traffic area.

Improved traffic flow and safety

Lt. Col. Fouad Yousef Al Khaja, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Section at Ajman Police, said the new road layout would significantly ease congestion in Al Helio, facilitating smoother movement and offering a safer driving experience.

He added that the upgrade will notably improve daily commutes, particularly for drivers heading towards Emirates Road and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

The project has been implemented to the highest international standards, especially in the design of intersections, ensuring safer and more accessible routes to key destinations across the emirate.
