Abu Dhabi revises DARB toll rules, lifts daily and monthly caps
The evening period will be extended to run from 3pm until 7pm
Heads up, Abu Dhabi drivers! Your commute might be getting a little pricier come September. The city is updating its DARB road toll system, and the biggest change is that they're scrapping the daily and monthly caps.
The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) announced on Thursday that from Monday, 1 September 2025, the DARB toll scheme will no longer have a daily or monthly fee cap for private vehicles. The move ends the current limits of Dh16 per day and Dh200, Dh150, and Dh100 per month, depending on the number of vehicles registered.
The morning rush hour will stay the same, from 7am to 9am, Monday through Saturday. The evening peak, however, is being extended, so you'll now be charged from 3pm to 7pm.
Just like before, there are no tolls on Sundays or public holidays. And exemptions will still be available for People of Determination, seniors, retirees, and low-income families who qualify.
The ITC said the amendments are intended to smooth traffic flow and reduce congestion on major roads, particularly during the busiest parts of the day.
Q Mobility, part of Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company (ADQ), will take over operations, working alongside transport authorities to roll out the updated rules.
