Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Police have renewed their call for motorists to strictly adhere to the school bus ‘Stop’ sign, emphasising its vital role in safeguarding the lives of schoolchildren and preventing traffic violations.

To reinforce awareness, the police released a video demonstrating the regulation in action and highlighting the dangers of disregarding the Stop sign, which could put children’s lives at risk.

Motorists must come to a complete stop when a school bus displays the Stop sign and maintain a minimum distance of five metres to ensure the safety of students boarding or alighting from the bus.

The authorities also reminded drivers that failing to comply with this rule carries a penalty of Dh1,000 and six black traffic points.
