Dubai: Almost five million people used Dubai’s public transport services, including metro, tram and buses during the Eid Al Adha holidays last week, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Monday.

The number of public transport riders, including taxi passengers during the weeklong Eid holidays in Dubai reached 4.85 riders, with the metro surpassing all other modes of transport, serving 1.82 million riders.

The Red Line alone served 1.2 million commuters, while the Green Line served 603,776 riders.

The RTA’s public bus service proved the second most popular mode of transport with 1.38 million riders, followed by taxis with 1.3 million passengers.

Dubai Tram carried 74,856 riders, while the RTA’s marine transit modes ferried 264,925 passengers.

Dubai Metro, tram and buses ran for extended hours during the Eid holidays, with the metro operating till 2am and tram running till 1am.
