The Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD), in coordination with the USA General Consulate, has launched a training programme on 'Tampering of Official and Non-Official Documents' for 20 police officers from the Dubai Airport Passport Section, and the Dubai Airport Free Zone Authority.
The programme aims to train them on detecting false American passports, identity cards, and official documents. It is held at the DNRD Training and Development Centre.
The U.S. Consulate has provided a specialised instructor and a translator to ensure that trainees understand the course.
The U.S. Deputy Consul spoke of the benefits of this programme to passport operators, saying that a similar training programme will be conducted in the near future to cope with the fast-changing technology used to commit fraud.
